Donald Trump Attacks Courts Immigration Ruling via Twitter


President Trump on continues his Twitter attack on courts over the stay on his executive order temporarily barring travel into the U.S. of people from seven Muslim-majority countries.

In an apparent reference to a U.S. district court’s order blocking the president’s executive action and an appeals court’s upholding that ruling, Trump asserted there is a “court breakdown” that is allowing a surge in people from the seven countries coming into the U.S.

U.S. appeals court lets Texas enforce abortion clinic rules

NEW ORLEANS (Reuters) – A federal appeals court ruled on Thursday that Texas could begin enforcing restrictions on abortion clinics that critics of the new rules say will force all but seven of the facilities in the state to shut down. A panel of the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in New Orleans ruled that Texas could enforce the requirement that clinics have certain hospital-like settings for surgeries while the court weighs the constitutionality of the state law. …

U.S. court tosses Argentina, Citigroup appeal in bond case

By Nate Raymond NEW YORK (Reuters) – A U.S. appeals court on Friday dismissed an appeal by Citigroup Inc and Argentina of a judge’s order blocking the bank from processing payments on $8.4 billion in bonds issued under the country’s local laws following its 2002 default. The 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in New York, in a brief order, declined to find it had jurisdiction because the order Citigroup and Argentina appealed was a “clarification, not a modification” of a prior decision by U.S. District Judge Thomas Griesa. …
