Who’s to Blame for the Crisis in Calais?

CalaisThe crisis in Calais has gained a great deal of media coverage recently. The attention has grown as the attempts of immigrants to cross the channel have got both bolder and more desperate. These immigrants believe that if they reach the UK, and can persuade the British government to let them stay they will have better lives for themselves. That would not be the case for most people, but this belief means that there are always at least 3,000 immigrants in Calais trying to make it to Dover. The British government has made it clear that none of the immigrants that make it across the channel will be allowed to stay.

The immigrants seem to have been given that impression by people traffickers that have got them as far as Calais and give them tips on how to cross the channel through the Eurotunnel, or by stowing away on ferries. These traffickers have been paid thousands of pounds by immigrants. The basic problem has been around since the 1990’s. However it is the sheer number of people attempting to make the crossing at present that is unprecedented.

It Will Shock you to Know how Politicians get their Campaign Money

Screen Shot 2015-06-15 at 11.43.46 PMThe 2016 presidential race will probably witness a flow of more campaign money compared to other elections in the U.S history. Hundreds of millions flowing into the “super PACs” are currently trending together with other outside spending groups. These groups are accepting campaign money from rich donors and spend it in supporting candidates through ads and other efforts which include helping them defeat their rivals. Democracy may be threatened by the gusher of political money flowing from “economic heavyweights”. This is according to a recent study that was conducted by two leading academics

Income inequality and crony capitalism is probably going be a noticeable subject in the election. Yahoo finance has vowed to track the economic elites donating the millions to each candidate and find out the reasons behind their actions. The list below outlines the donors and donee; each candidate is listed according to their fundraising prospects and grouped by party.

Democrats

Hillary Clinton

She is placed highest on the fundraising tier. Her prominent donors are obvious big democratic donors, which include James Simons, Tom Steyer, Reid Hoffman, George Soros, John Doerr, Marc Lasry, Fred Eycharner and Jeffrey Katzernberg.

Hillary is benefiting from a variety of rich contacts from her senatorial years and when she was the secretary of state. Her husband presidential years have also positively helped her gain the dominance.

Shocking: Investigators Unsure About What Caused Amtrak Crash

Screen Shot 2015-05-21 at 9.15.58 PMAn Amtrak train was on its way back to New York from Washington when it crashed. The Amtrak train crashed while passing through Philadelphia. The train was moving at over 100 mph when it hit a curve and crashed. The speed limit for that area was 50 mph. Eight people ended up dying as a result of the crash and over 200 people were injured.

There is an investigation to figure out what caused the crash. Unfortunately, the FBI isn’t sure what caused the train to crash. It was suspected that something hit the window of the train, but investigators aren’t sure if that was the cause of the accident. Investigators have ruled out a weapon hitting the window. Despite not knowing what hit the window, investigators are still trying to figure out what caused the train to derail on May 12, 2015. According to the National Transportation Safety Board, someone told the investigators that she overheard an Amtrak engineer talking to another engineer about the trains being hit. When the investigators listened to the tapes, they didn’t hear the engineer say anything about the train being hit.

Will Convicted Boston Bomber’s Sad Face be Enough to Spare His Life?

Screen Shot 2015-05-14 at 9.12.05 PMIt seems as though convicted Boston Marathon bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev’s attitude may be changing. After sitting stone-faced throughout the majority of the trial, he allegedly apologized to Catholic nun Sister Helen Prejean. It was a dramatic turn of events for the man who prosecutors claimed to be on a mission to inflict as much damage as possible. Tsarnaev’s lawyers tried to paint their client as a confused boy who was caught in the crosshairs of a domineering older brother, stating cultural tradition to follow older siblings. Tsarnaev has shown little emotion throughout the trial, leading others to question the sincerity of any apology.

The biggest exception in trial occurred when his emotional aunt testified. Tsarnaev appeared to wipe his eyes of tears. Sister Prejean has consoled many death row inmates before. The story of her experiences was made famous in the book Dead Man Walking, which was later adapted into an Oscar winning film.
