Rocket Internet drops 14 percent in stock market debut

FRANKFURT (Reuters) – Investors gave Rocket Internet, the global e-commerce investor, a chilly welcome to the Frankfurt stock exchange on Thursday letting its shares drop up to 14 percent. Shares in the Berlin-based company started trading at the offer price of 42.50 but fell to 36.66 euros after a few minutes. By 0805 GMT, the shares were down 2.6 percent at 41.40 euros. With expected gross proceeds of 1.4 billion euros ($1.8 bln) excluding a greenshoe option, it is Europe’s largest internet IPO since 2000, which marked the peak of the dotcom bubble. …

Starboard offers to take RealD private for $12 per share

(Reuters) – Activist investor Starboard Value LP said on Wednesday it had offered to acquire the remaining shares in RealD Inc RLD.N after raising its stake in the 3D technology licensor. Starboard offered $12 per share in cash, a premium of 29 percent to RealD stock price as of Wednesday close, valuing the company at about $540 million. Philips Electronics loses $467 million patent verdict to Masimo

(Reuters) – A federal jury on Wednesday said Philips Electronics NA should pay $466.8 million to Masimo Corp for having infringed two patents for technology used to help measure blood oxygen and track pulse rates. Shares of Masimo closed 12.9 percent higher, rising $2.74 to $24.02 on the Nasdaq.
